Syntphony Release Note | v1.17.0

Launched on 24 November 2025

New in this version

A new configuration has been added to allow sorting of Search results

IMPROVEMENT

This release introduces a new capability within the Search verticals that allows results to be sorted based on a custom property. This enhancement gives administrators greater flexibility to define sorting criteria for each vertical, tailoring them to their organization’s specific needs. As a result, users are presented with the most relevant content first.

This functionality uses the standard configuration available in SharePoint, ensuring consistency with established administrative practices. To use this feature, administrators must first create sortable managed properties in SharePoint Central Administration. Then, they can configure the corresponding vertical in SEI Settings and specify the property that will serve as the basis for sorting.

This improvement makes the Search experience more precise and personalized, allowing each vertical to display information in an order that best aligns with business objectives and user expectations.

Improvements

NOTIFICATIONS

Improvements in error handling for external notifications

IMPROVEMENT

As part of this update, enhancements have been made to the way errors are managed and responses are handled during calls that create external notifications. These refinements ensure that issues are processed more consistently, provide clearer feedback, and reduce the likelihood of unexpected behavior. The result is more reliable notification delivery and a smoother experience when interacting with external systems.

PERFORMANCE

Enhancements to reduce throttling errors

IMPROVEMENT

In this update, several improvements have been implemented to minimize throttling issues. Adjustments were made in the community header, during page loading, and in the handling of the Main Menu cache. These refinements help reduce the occurrence of throttling errors and contribute to a smoother and more reliable user experience across the platform.

SOCIAL

Additional validations in the comments feature

IMPROVEMENT

This release introduces new validations in the use of comments to ensure that user permissions are correctly applied. These improvements strengthen the way permissions are handled and help maintain proper access control. The update was identified during a security review and has been implemented without affecting the usual experience of using comments.

Improved management of comment length

IMPROVEMENT

With this version, the handling of page comments has been refined by introducing a maximum length limit. User comments are now restricted to 2.000 characters, ensuring consistency and preventing excessively long entries. This adjustment helps maintain readability and improves the overall experience when interacting with comments, without changing the way the feature is typically used.

Fixings

APPLICATIONS

App launcher “Open in new tab” fix

FIXING

An issue was corrected in the Application Launcher where the logic for opening apps did not properly respect the Open in new tab property. With this fix, applications now behave consistently according to the configured setting, ensuring that the expected action is applied when users click on them.

Image header save error with special characters in name or URL

FIXING

Resolved an issue where saving the header image failed if the file name or URL contained special characters, due to incorrect URL formatting. The fix ensures proper encoding and handling of these characters during the save process, allowing images with unusual names or URLs to be stored reliably.

SEARCH

Default query not applied in Search verticals

FIXING

An issue was resolved where the default query defined in the configuration of Search verticals was not being taken into account when displaying their contents. With this correction, the configured default query is now properly applied, ensuring that results in each vertical follow the intended setup and behave consistently with the defined configuration.

USER EXPERIENCE

Page layout issue with vertical navigation in Team Sites

FIXING

A user experience problem was fixed where page content in Team Sites shifted to the left when vertical navigation was enabled in SharePoint. With this correction, pages now display properly aligned, ensuring a consistent and more polished layout when using vertical navigation.
